Training and behavior modification for the family dog

We use force-free, positive reinforcement-based dog training methods. That means no fear, no force, and no pain. Our approach focuses on emotional well-being, clear communication, and helping dogs learn in a way that builds confidence and trust. We work with family dogs to create practical skills that carry into everyday life. 

 Dog training focuses on teaching skills such as manners, cues, and everyday behaviors. Behavior modification addresses underlying emotional responses such as fear, reactivity, or stress. Behavior concerns should be guided by a qualified professional, such as a Certified Behavior Consultant, to ensure safe and effective long-term change. 

We use humane, training-appropriate equipment such as harnesses, standard leashes, and reinforcement-based tools. We do not use prong collars, choke chains, or shock collars. Our focus is on teaching dogs how to make better choices, not forcing compliance. 

Food is just one form of reinforcement. We help identify what motivates your dog, which may include toys, movement, access to the environment, or social interaction. For dogs with sensitivities, we work with appropriate alternatives that still support effective learning. 

Most group classes require an evaluation before enrollment. This allows us to assess your dog’s temperament, experience level, and needs to ensure the class is the right fit. If a group setting is not appropriate, we will recommend private training options instead. 

Yes. Our Specialty Services programs focus on behavior modification for dogs experiencing fear, reactivity, or other big emotions. These programs are designed to support emotional regulation, improve social skills, and create long-term behavior change through structured, science-based approaches.

Early socialization during critical development stages helps puppies build positive associations with people, environments, and experiences. This foundation plays a key role in preventing fear, anxiety, and behavior challenges later in life. 

 Yes. We offer private sessions for dogs who benefit from a more individualized approach, as well as for clients who prefer flexible scheduling or a more controlled learning environment. 

Yes. Enrichment is a core part of our approach. We incorporate activities that meet a dog’s natural needs, including foraging, movement, problem-solving, and social interaction. This helps support emotional well-being and can reduce unwanted behaviors by addressing the root cause.
