Understanding what is normal and safe play with puppies can be difficult for new guardians. At Jenn's Dogs our puppy training will help you recognize and facilitate safe play between puppies. Your puppy will learn how to give and respond to play invites, and when and how to say they have had enough. Learning different play styles at a young age leads to adaptability and better understanding of their fellow canines as Adults.
Strengthen the natural bond you are already forming with your new family member. Developing secure attachment is an important part of raising a well adjusted adult. During Puppy classes our expert trainers guide you in how to foster a healthy connection while in a highly stimulating and distracting environment.
Our puppy dog training classes are more than play! By starting early with puppy classes, you are exposing your dog to real world experiences during their crucial sensitivity stage. During your time with us, your puppy will interact with a variety of other puppies and people. In addition to new surfaces, noises, smells, and movement. In addition, if you are coming from neighboring cities like Hillsboro and Cornelius, your dog will also learn better car manners!

Level 0: Puppy Life Skills is a foundational training class for puppies aged 8–16 weeks at the start of class. It focuses on socialization, confidence building, and essential life skills to help puppies grow into well-adjusted adult dogs.
This class covers:
✅ Confidence-building exercises
✅ Proper socialization with people, sounds, textures, and novel objects
✅ Handling and cooperative care (vet and grooming prep)
✅ Introduction to basic manners (sit, down, recall, focus work)
✅ Enrichment activities to prevent problem behaviors
Puppies must be between 8 and 16 weeks old at the start of class to be eligible.
Puppies should have at least one round of DHPP (Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvo, Parainfluenza) and a vet check before starting class. They do not need to be fully vaccinated, as early socialization is crucial during this developmental window.
(We follow the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior’s position on early socialization, which states that the benefits outweigh the minimal risks.)
Unlike traditional obedience-focused puppy classes, Level 0 prioritizes real-world socialization, confidence-building, and enrichment to help puppies develop resilience and appropriate behaviors in new situations.
That’s exactly what this class is for! We use positive reinforcement and force-free training to help nervous puppies build confidence at their own pace.
Our classes are small, with 3–4 puppies per class. This ensures personalized attention while still providing socialization opportunities.
Yes! We encourage family participation!
Since puppies develop rapidly, it’s best not to miss any classes. However, if you must miss a session, we can provide a summary of key takeaways so you can practice at home.
Classes take place at the Jenn’s Dogs Training Studio in Forest Grove, OR.
